Check the connection at the decoder

Make sure the coaxial cable running in from the dish is screwed in firmly at the LNB IN port on the back of the decoder, not just pushed in.

Look at the dish itself

Strong wind or a knock can shift a dish just enough to lose the satellite. Check whether it looks tilted, bent, or if a tree branch has grown into its line of sight.

Inspect the LNB cap

The small plastic cap on the arm of the dish protects the LNB from rain. Over time it can crack, letting water in and shorting the signal — a common cause of intermittent faults after storms.

Smart LNB

The dish needs a DStv Smart LNB rather than an older single-output unit, since the Explora Ultra reads a different band of signal.

Signal Alignment

We realign the dish with a digital field meter so both decoders sit comfortably above the signal strength DStv requires for reliable viewing.

Linking Cable

A dedicated cable runs between the two decoders so DStv recognises them as being at the same address — without it, the secondary decoder won’t activate.
